Hoppy New Year to everyone!

I saw in the New Year with some super hoppy beers from Dogfish Head - their 60 Minute IPA and 90 Minute Imperial IPA - very hoppy but also very complex and some of the best beers I have ever tasted.

If I ever make it to Belgium for a brewery tour I think I will return via the US just to visit Dogfish Head - they make almost 100 different beers and many only available at their brewpub.

I'm too drunk to think of something clever to put here.

I spent the New Year drinking some, shudder, Corona, which was an X-mas gift, the location wasn't the perfect place place for drinking any of my more prized beers. I'll make up for it through the week, with some nice New Year's treats I have been saving.

May ask where you got the Dogfish beers? Very keen to get my hands on some, but so far not seen any around here (Brisbane).

Happy New Year to all.
I opened one of the few remaining Unibroue Terrible bottles in Australia.
On an unrelated note: tried Hawthorn Brewery's Pale Ale last night, and was very impressed. They are a new micro operating out of (you guessed it) Hawthorn in Victoria. I also like their label design, which cleverly evokes the old ale bottle labels like Bass, etc.

Best wishes to all for 2010

Isn't the Terrible a great beer?  Really great example of  Belgian style.

I had a bottle a while back, and bought one for my father who I have been getting into different beers over the past few months, and who I convinced to become a Beermason just before Christmas. I thought it was one of the better Unibroue beers, which is saying a lot, I am just hoping that since Unibroue stocks are drying up, he decides to share with me.

Well, yes I agree, it is a great beer. However it's not the most complex of Belgian style brews, and having had a glass or two of an evening, I go to bed happy, but have to admit that a lot of that hapiness has to do with the 10.5% ABV. That's not to say it's lacking in taste. Jut that there are a lot of other dark Belgian or Belgian style brews that I prefer.

You met Sam Calagione? Wow! He's a brewing hero of mine. He's one of the people I suggested the ANHC lot try to get over for their next conference. I've got his book about Exreme Brewing, and once brewed an old ale based on his principles.Put it this way, the hydrometer sat on the top and refused to sink!
Happy New Year Renee

Well in that case Kevin - I think I will have to try and coerce him to come out for a BM event? What do you think?

Happy New Year to you to!
